New Safety, Entry + Exit Protocols
ENTRY PROTOCOLS
Everyone coming into the building must complete a Health Check before prior to arrival.
We rely on everyone doing their part in keeping our community safe.
DOE policy require that schools conduct random No-touch thermometer assessment of school based staff and students. This process involves:
Asking the students/school based staff if they have recently traveled internationally or returned from a state with widespread community transmission of COVID-19 per the New York State Travel Advisory in the past 14 days.
If recent travel to a state with widespread community transmission, the nurse or staff member will inform the Principal or administration.
Use a No-touch thermometer to take the temperature of the student/school based staff.
If the student/school based staff has a temperature of 100.4 or greater or displaying any COVID 19 symptoms: Cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea, the administration will be notified. (BRT COVID Team Activated)
Students who fail to meet the entry requirements will be held in the isolation room (101), reassessed by the school nurse and await parent pickup.
Staff members exhibiting COVID – 19 symptoms will be directed to leave the building.
Any individual (student or staff member) showing signs of COVID-19 can only return to school when all the following conditions are met:
Received a positive COVID-19 test AND
Isolated for 10 days AND
Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND
The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
OR
Received a negative COVID-19 test AND
Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND
The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
OR
Never got a COVID-19 test AND
At least 10 days have passed since symptoms started AND
Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND
The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
Schools are prohibited to record or track student and/or staff temperatures or other health information.
Face coverings and gloves will be worn continually by designated staff taking temperatures.
Face coverings (masks) must be worn at all times. Bandanas and gaiters are not appropriate face coverings.
STUDENT ENTRY
Everyone coming into the building must complete a Health Check before prior to arrival.
All students will enter from the building from the west North Oxford Entrance (Exit 3 down by the basketball courts).
Social distance markers placed in front of the building must be followed as student form a queue for entry.
Students must remain in a single file keeping six feet from the person ahead.
Students must wear a mask. If you do not have one, a mask will be provided for you.
Staff will check student temperature while upon entry.
Once you exit stairwell (A/B Stairwell) on any floor please follow the directional markers to your class. The flow of traffic will move to the right as you enter the hallway.
Grab-N-Go breakfast will be available for pick up upon entry
Exit will always be through E/F Stairwell.
Parents are encouraged to assess child, and students are encouraged to self-assess, prior leaving home and should not report to school if they are experiencing any of the symptoms described above:
temperature of 100.4 or greater, a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea.
VISITOR ENTRY

This process involves:
Asking the visitor if they have you recently traveled internationally or returned from a state with widespread community transmission of COVID-19 per the New York State Travel Advisory in the past 14 days.
If recent travel to a state with widespread community transmission, the principal or administration will be notified and the visitor will be denied entry.
Use a No-touch thermometer to take the temperature of the visitor.
If the visitor has a temperature of 100.4 or greater, coughing, shortness of breath, the administration will be notified and the visitor will be denied entry. (BRT COVID Team Activated)
In an effort to limit the number of visitors in a school at any given time, all visitor and parent concerns by will be addressed via phone or computer. • Principals and designated staff will conduct meetings remotely where possible (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meets).
When it is necessary to hold a meeting in person, all visitors are required to follow the visitor control protocols, including temperature checks, complying with physical distancing requirements and wearing a face covering.
In order to avoid hand-to-hand contact, we will provide multiple writing tools for visitors to sign in.
Visitors must leave their names and contact information in the event they need to be notified for COVID-19 purposes.
All visitors must receive a visitor’s pass, which must be returned upon exiting the building.
All visitors must be escorted to and from the meeting destination, in order to prevent visitors from accessing unauthorized areas, limiting the possibility of exposure.
If a parent is called to the school to pick up their child, the child must be brought to the main lobby to meet the parent.
Non-essential individuals should not be allowed to enter school building.
All packages are to be delivered to the main lobby in a manner consistent with social distancing protocols.
Parents are encouraged to schedule virtual conferences and to avoid in person conferences.
